CHILD RESTRAINTS

Every parent wants the peace of mind that their child is safe while in a vehicle. Here at S & D Car Care we are professionally accredited members of ACRI (Australian Child Restraint Resource Initiative) and we are committed to quality practices in the fitting of child restraint products and services and abide by their code of practice.

When purchasing a Child Restraint you should always select a baby seat or child restraint approved to the Australian/New Zealand Standard. These baby seat or child restraints will be marked with the Standards Australia 'tick-mark' and a statement of compliance.

Below are the requirements for what type of seat your child requires at different ages.

The type of restraint to use depends on the person’s age and size:

  • Children from birth to 4 years must travel in either a rear facing or forward facing child restraint. The type will depend on their age and size.
  • Children aged 4 years to under 7 years must travel in either a forward facing child restraint with an inbuilt harness, or a booster seat.
  • Children aged 7 years to under 16 years must travel in either a booster seat or a seat belt.
  • People 16 years and over must travel in an adult seat belt.
